Coach Kaitlyn McNutt, was born and raised in Alexandria. She is the product of the Diocese of Arlington, having attended grade K-8 at St. Louis Catholic School and Bishop Ireton High School, where she was a Cardinal swimmer. She received a B.A. in Media Arts & Design and English from James Madison University, with a focus on Journalism.

 

Coach McNutt grew up a swimmer, immersed in the sport as part of a big swimming family. At the age of five, she began competing for the Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL) at Virginia Hills Swim Club and Hollin Meadows Swim and Tennis Club. At age seven, she began swimming year-round and competing for Nations Capital Swim Club (NCAP). She swam for the Bishop Ireton Cardinals, with a love of breaststroke events. 

 

Ms. McNutt knew that she loved coaching from the moment she started! She began coaching summer league in 2012 and has coached for several NVSL teams including Hollin Meadows Swim and Tennis Club, Highland Park Pool, and Stratford Landing Recreation Swim Club. Whether it was stroke and turn instruction, meet strategy, age group workout management or team building facilitation, Coach McNutt collaborated with colleagues, team reps, officials and parents to cultivate successful seasons for all swimmers.  

 

Coach McNutt has always been dedicated to the sport of swimming.  While attending James Madison University, she worked at the University Rec Center providing swim instruction to people of all ages and abilities through private and small group swim instruction.  This work helps her to this day, as she works with varying ages and levels of swim ability.

 

Coach McNutt is currently a coach for Nation’s Capital Swim Club(NCAP), USA Swimming, the top ranked year round swim program in the nation. She is an age group coach, working with High School Prep (ages 13-18) and the age 8-12 group.  She is also Head Coach for Mt. Vernon Country Club, Alexandria, VA. Coach McNutt is a certified USA Swim Coach, A USA and NVSL certified deck official and a licensed pool operator. She currently serves on the VISAA executive board for high school swim.

 

Coach McNutt is going into her third season as Head Coach of BISD. Since joining the Cardinals on deck, her goal has been to instill a love of swimming, pride in representing Bishop Ireton athletics and commitment to individual and team success and improvement. She looks forward to each season, engaging with swimmers, encouraging them in sportsmanship and fostering Cardinal spirit!
