“We pray best before beauty.” - St. Francis de Sales. These words by our school’s patron saint call to mind the mission, purpose, and philosophy of the Bishop Ireton Fine Arts Program.
Since 1964, Bishop Ireton has been known for its brilliant artists, renowned theater productions, and exceptional musicians. At BI, students learn to understand the purposes of various art forms, including visual arts, media, dance, music, drama and literature.
As you explore campus, you will notice the walls are adorned with displays of art produced by students at every level of development in their craft. As a charter member of the very first Cappies, BI is also well known for its award-winning Theater Department. Furthermore, the acoustical excellence of the Garwood Whaley Auditorium is widely recognized and highly acclaimed in Northern Virginia. Our Symphonic Wind Ensemble performs concerts throughout the year in the auditorium, and travels across Europe every year to perform as well.
