Christian Service

About Christian Service

As a Catholic school in the Salesian tradition, Bishop Ireton is committed to preaching and modeling the Church’s teaching that service, rooted in justice, is a constitutive element in teaching the Gospel.

Students are called to encounter Christ by serving the poor, dispossessed and marginalized. The Bishop Ireton community service requirement reflects our belief that students should generously share their time and talents for the good of others and the betterment of society.

The service program is designed to grow with the student, offering experiences that deepen in meaning and impact over time. Each student is required to complete at least 60 hours of community service – 15 hours per academic year – over the course of their four years at Bishop Ireton. Additional service hours are strongly encouraged but not required.
Students can work with the Office of Campus Ministry to learn more about the annual service requirement and to receive guidance in identifying meaningful service opportunities.
