Athletics Update - February 6, 2021
As we enter the latter part of our winter season we wanted to give you an update on what's been going on. Our winter sports teams, in particular girls and boys basketball, girls and boys swimming, ice hockey, wrestling, and indoor track, have been hard at work with practices, workouts and, in some cases, competitions. Some winter sports have elected to participate unofficially in local area club programs as an optional opportunity for students, while others have been able to maintain official Bishop Ireton practices and events. In fact, we just had our first official swim meet on Thursday February 4, at The St. James. We also have some programs, including football, softball and girls lacrosse, who are participating in pre-season/out of season Activities (OSA). This is all being done within the safety protocols of state and local guidelines and requirements.
With regards to the upcoming “fall” season, which officially starts on February 15, we anticipate participation in girls volleyball, girls and boys cross country, girls field hockey, girls and boys soccer, football and girls tennis. Bishop Ireton will continue to keep student-athletes and families updated throughout the “fall” season and in preparation for the spring season.
We encourage everyone that has an interest in any sport to please email the respective coaches to let them know of your interest and to answer any additional questions you may have.
We recognize the importance of athletics in the overall development of our students and want to provide as many athletic options as possible while doing so safely. We thank our families and student-athletes for your continued support, flexibility, and patience.

The Bishop Ireton Athletic Department
