Coach Wortham, a native of Alexandria VA, has been coaching high school football since 1992. To name a few stops, he has coached at TC Williams High School, Lee High School, Falls Church and in the last 10 years has been a Head Football Coach in Prince William County at Freedom HS and Woodbridge HS. While at Woodbridge HS, Coach Wortham tied the best record in the history of Football by finishing the 2017 season with a 12 and 2 record, winning the Region 6C Championship game, being named Region 6C Coach of the Year, and leading the team to the AAA D-6 State Semi-final game. In 2019, Coach Wortham was selected to coach in the most prestigious high school All America Game known as the Under Amour All-America Game held in Orlando, Florida. During that year, Coach Wortham was the only coach in the state of Virginia to have two high school All-American athletes on his roster: Antoine Sampah who is now at LSU and RJ Adams who is now at the University Of Kentucky.
Coach Wortham is known for his ability to create educational opportunities through scholarships for many athletes in the entire DC Metro area. His vision includes helping athletes understand the importance of securing their future. He believes that everything from education, football, and career aspirations can be secured when athletes challenge themselves to be the best that they can be. He also believes that an important factor of a program’s success is having a staff of coaches who value respect, character, discipline, commitment, and being good role models. In addition to his expectations in the classroom and on the field, he and his staff also provide opportunities for his student athletes to be Servant Leaders in their community. Coach Wortham is no stranger to Bishop Ireton as he served as the Associate Head Coach during this past season 2020-21 season.
