Coach Bryant is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana where he was a two time All-Met player in high school. He was ranked as the fifth best player in the country and the number one point guard in 1986 and he was selected as a first team High School All-American by Streets and Smith and Parade magazines respectively. He was also named as a USA Today first team All-American. For his efforts, he was named to the prestigious McDonald's High School All-American Team and played in the McDonald's High School All-American game in 1986.

Coach Bryant accepted a basketball scholarship to attend and play basketball at Georgetown University where he was the Hoyas all-time leader  in assist and three-point shooting when he graduated in 1990. He was also second in the school's history in steals. He ranks number 47 out of 100 all-time in Georgetown Basketball history and he is currently ranked in the top ten all time in assists (#3) Steals (#9) and three point field goal percentage (#2). In his final season at Georgetown, he was named Third Team all Big East.

After College, Coach Bryant went to the San Antonio Spurs as a rookie free agent Point Guard.  After the Spurs tryout, Coach Bryant decided to play professionally in South America, Europe, and Canada for a total of three seasons before deciding to become a teacher and a coach.

Coach Bryant has coached high school basketball for over 20 years and coached more than 35 players who played college basketball at the DI, DII, and DIII levels including Roy Hibbert (Georgetown University/Indiana Pacers/Los Angeles Lakers), Davis
Nwankwo (Vanderbilt), Aris Williams (Valparaiso/South Florida), Markel Starks (Georgetown University), Robert Olson (Loyola University), Taylor Abt (Holy Cross), Aaron Bond (Davidson), Garvey Young (University of Vermont) to name a few. Coach Bryant has run basketball camps and done individual training with basketball players for more than 25 years and his emphasis has always been on player development.

"My goal for Bishop Ireton basketball is to have it be one of the premier basketball programs in the Washington DC Metro area. My philosophy as a coach is a simple one and it has carried me through most of my life. No matter what you do, bring great energy, great effort and a great attitude and always strive to be better today than you were the day before!"  I believe those two statements hold the key to consistent growth and sustainable success.
