Bishop Ireton Announces Hiring of Four New Head Coaches to Esteemed Athletic Program

Bishop Ireton is pleased to announce the hiring of four new varsity coaches to the Bishop Ireton Athletic program. The Cardinals welcome Max Snider as the varsity boys lacrosse coach, Carlington Harvey as the varsity boys soccer coach, Steve Hall as the varsity crew coach and Kevin O’Keefe (BI ‘08) as the varsity baseball coach.
Prior to coming to Bishop Ireton, Coach Max Snider served as the interim head coach for boys lacrosse at Our Lady of Good Counsel, where he led the team to their most successful season in recent history. He has also coached at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Md. and at Urbana High School in Maryland.

Coach Carlington Harvey has held numerous coaching positions throughout the DMV and has led multiple teams at different levels to success. He previously served as the head soccer coach at Washington Adventist University on both the men’s and women’s side, worked as an assistant soccer coach at Howard University and was the head soccer coach with the Olympic Development Program of Delaware.

Coach Steve Hall brings a wealth of experience to the crew head coaching position. His rowing career spans decades and includes high school and collegiate rowing as well as being a member of the Annapolis Rowing Club (ARC) as a Masters rower. While rowing with ARC, he competed in the Henley Masters Regatta, the Head of the Charles, the Head of the Hooch and the World Rowing Masters among other competitions. In 2021, he was recruited to join the men’s coaching program at Annapolis Junior Rowing.

In addition to serving as an assistant coach for the Cardinals for the past six seasons, Coach Kevin O’Keefe is a 2008 Bishop Ireton graduate. While at BI, he played baseball all four years before going on to Moravian College, where he pitched for four years. He will assume the role of head coach while maintaining his full time position in the Student Life Office at BI.

“All four of these coaches bring a tremendous amount of skill and expertise to the roles they are taking on,” said Athletic Director Dwayne Bryant. “We’re excited to see where they lead their respective programs and look forward to each coach building successful teams in the competitive environment of the WCAC.”

“We are not only impressed with the resumes of each of our new coaches but also the leadership they bring to the table,” said Head of School Kathleen McNutt. “We are thrilled to welcome them to the Cardinal family and know that each of them will be a great addition to our athletic program.”

Each head coach has begun preseason preparations and will assume their role at the beginning of their respective seasons.
