DeMatha Captures Lead Early to Defeat Bishop Ireton Varsity Cardinals

Bishop Ireton Varsity Cardinals watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 14-4 loss to DeMatha on Thursday.  DeMatha scored on a sacrifice fly by Kendell, an error, a double by Doyle, and a single by Dietrich in the first inning.

The Bishop Ireton Varsity Cardinals struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing DeMatha, giving up 14 runs.

DeMatha got on the board in the first inning when Kendell's sac fly scored one run for DeMatha.

DeMatha scored six runs in the fourth inning.  Kendell, Mcgouhill,  Doyle, Dietrich, and Long powered the big inning with RBIs.

Wercessian earned the victory on the hill for DeMatha. The pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out two.  A number of pitchers entered the game as relief, with DiMarsico, Gonzalez, Curry, and Hall all securing outs and ultimately the victory.

Peter Chiarello took the loss for Bishop Ireton Varsity Cardinals. The pitcher went three innings, allowing eight runs on eight hits.

Will Kopp led Bishop Ireton Varsity Cardinals with two hits in two at bats.

DeMatha saw the ball well today, racking up 16 hits in the game.  Coombs, Long, Dietrich, Kendell, Doyle, and Mcgouhill all had multiple hits for DeMatha.
