Students, faculty, and staff will be on Easter Vacation from Friday, April 19 to Friday, April 26. No classes will be held and the school office will be closed during this time. Happy Easter!

Summer Classes

Bishop Ireton offers a variety of enrichment classes each summer for incoming freshmen, as well as for rising juniors and seniors. These classes are intended to help prepare students for the upcoming school year. No academic credit will be awarded.  To register for an enrichment class click here
The classes offered this year are as follows:

  • Algebra Enrichment Class

    (for students taking Algebra II during the 2019-2020 school year)

    8:30 a.m. to 10: 20 a.m.
    Monday, July 29 – Thursday, August 8; no meeting on Friday
    Cost: $275

    Description: This class will refresh and reinforce key concepts learned in Algebra I. It is an enrichment class for students who are enrolled in Algebra II for the upcoming school year. The key concepts that this course will cover include: Order of Operations, Inequalities, Linear Equations, Factoring Quadratic Equations, Ratios and Fractions, and Word Problems. Additionally, this class will also include SAT prep for the Math section with sample questions and test strategies given to all enrolled students. This class meets four days a week for two weeks.

    Students who have taken a full year of Algebra I in middle school and score in the 60-76 percent range on the Diocesan Placement Exam are also eligible to take this class. Those students who complete the course may take an assessment to try again to qualify to be exempted from Algebra I at Bishop Ireton.

  • Introduction to Algebra I

    (for incoming freshmen)

    11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
    Monday, July 29 – Thursday, August 8; no meeting on Friday
    Cost: $250

    Description: This class will serve as an introductory class for students taking Algebra I during the 2019-2020 school year. This class will review key mathematical concepts that will serve as important algebraic concepts for the year ahead. Students will learn special techniques to solve algebraic equations, reduce and combine fractions, and logically deduce a word problem. This class meets four days a week for two weeks.

  • Introduction to Freshmen English

    (for incoming freshmen)

    9:15 to 10:45 a.m.
    Monday, July 29 – Thursday, August 8; no meeting on Friday
    Cost: $250

    Description:  This is a non-credit, two-week course to prepare incoming freshmen for Bishop Ireton’s ninth-grade English college preparatory curriculum. Students will have the opportunity to review literary elements and literary techniques, develop reading strategies for comprehension, and review essential writing skills required for Freshmen English. Students must bring their required summer reading book.

Summer Classes for Credit

Students who want to take a class for credit must complete and submit the Summer Studies 2019 Request for Permission to Enroll Form to their school counselor by Wednesday, May 29, 2019. Students enrolled in an Educere class for credit will take the course final exam at Bishop Ireton on Wednesday, August 14 at 9:00 a.m.
 
Classes taken for credit will become part of the student’s official Bishop Ireton transcript. Students can also take classes for credit at a local college or area high school. Bishop Ireton has partnered with Educere to provide online, self-paced classes in Web Design, Geometry, Algebra II/Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry. Click here for more information about the classes. Students are expected to spend at least 2-3 hours a day on the course. Students must enroll in class no later than Wednesday, June 19, 2019.
