Summer Studies

Bishop Ireton offers a variety of enrichment classes and classes for credit each summer.

Summer Enrichment Classes

Enrichment courses are intended to help prepare students for the upcoming school year. No academic credit will be awarded. 
 
Enrollment and payment must be completed by June 7. Space is limited. There are no refunds after June 11, 2024. Vacations and other scheduling conflicts will not be accommodated.

  • Algebra Placement Exam Boot Camp (for Incoming Freshmen and by invitation only)

    For incoming freshmen with a score of 65-76 on the diocesan Algebra I placement exam who want another chance to qualify to take Honors Algebra II/Trig as freshmen. Students will retest on the final day of the course. Only qualifying students may register for this class. Parents of qualifying students will be notified and sent registration information by Dr. Hannon shortly after the high school placement exam is taken on June 1.

  • Algebra Refresher and SAT Prep

    For rising juniors who will be taking Algebra II as juniors.
     
    This class will refresh and reinforce key concepts learned in Algebra I. The key concepts this course will cover include: Order of Operations, Inequalities, Linear Equations, Factoring Quadratic Equations, Ratios and Fractions, and Word Problems. This class will also include SAT prep for the math section with sample questions and test strategies.

  • Introduction to Algebra I

    For incoming students who will take standard Algebra I as 9th graders.
     
    This class will serve as an introductory class for students taking Algebra I during the 2023-2024 school year.  This class will review key mathematical concepts that will serve as important algebraic concepts for the year ahead.  Students will learn special techniques to solve algebraic equations, reduce and combine fractions, and logically deduce a word problem.

  • Introduction to High School English (for Incoming Freshmen)

    For incoming students who expect to take standard level English 9.

    This is a non-credit two-week course to prepare incoming freshmen for Bishop Ireton’s English 9 college preparatory curriculum. Students will have the opportunity to review literary elements and literary techniques, develop reading strategies for comprehension and review essential writing skills needed freshman year. Students will engage in discussions regarding a required summer reading book.
