The Bishop Ireton Swim & Dive program is one of the largest and most competitive in the WCAC and VISAA, consistently fielding a roster of over 70 swimmers and divers. Led by VISAA Girls’ 2023 and 2024 Coach of the Year Kaitlyn Gerke, the Cardinals have achieved some of their most successful seasons in recent history, earning multiple WCAC All-Conference honors, breaking school relay records, and regularly qualifying one of the largest teams for the VISAA State Championships and National Catholic Championships.

Recent highlights include the girls’ 4x100 freestyle relay record set by Therese Forrer ’25, Emma Lentini ’25, Avery VanLandingham ’28, and Ella Nick ’25; WCAC event titles by Ella Nick ’25 in the 50 and 100 freestyle; and the boys’ team receiving the 2024 VISAA Sportsmanship Award. The Cardinals’ depth and strength have led to top conference finishes for both swim and dive, including a 1st place WCAC finish for boys diving in 2024 and a 3rd place WCAC finish for the girls team the same season.

Bishop Ireton alumni continue to excel at the collegiate level, with recent graduates swimming for Shippensburg University, York College of Pennsylvania, and Immaculata University. With a tradition of excellence, a culture of sportsmanship, and a relentless competitive spirit, Bishop Ireton Swim & Dive remains a team to watch in the pool and on the boards.
