The Bishop Ireton Cardinals Varsity Baseball team fell to DeMatha 9–2 but showed competitive at-bats and strong moments on the mound.
On the mound, Connor Stehn ('27) got the start and delivered an impressive outing, pitching 2.2 innings with six strikeouts, consistently challenging hitters and setting the tone early. JD Loving ('28) provided steady relief, throwing 3.1 innings and adding three strikeouts while working to keep the Cardinals within reach.
Offensively, the Cardinals saw contributions throughout the lineup. Alexander Glick ('27) led the way with two hits, including a double, and scored a run. Chase Poray ('27) added two hits, a walk, and a run, while Jacob Hurley ('26) recorded a double. Andrew Antonio ('26), Thomas Foley ('27), and Stehn each contributed a hit as the Cardinals continued to put the ball in play and apply pressure.
The Cardinals will look to build on these efforts as they prepare for their next matchup against Hayfield on Saturday at 12 p.m.
