Bishop Ireton Boys Basketball Advances with First Round WCAC Playoff Win Over St. Mary’s Ryken

The Bishop Ireton Cardinals opened Washington Catholic Athletic Conference playoff play with a strong performance, defeating St. Mary’s Ryken 81–70 in the first round to advance in postseason action.
Playing at home, Bishop Ireton set the tone early with defensive pressure and efficient offense, controlling the tempo and building momentum throughout the contest. The Cardinals executed well on both ends of the floor, forcing turnovers, pushing the pace in transition, and consistently finding quality scoring opportunities to maintain control of the game.

With the victory, Bishop Ireton improved to 18–10 on the season while St. Mary’s Ryken concluded its season at 9–20. The result also continued Ireton’s recent dominance in the matchup, extending their winning streak against the Knights.

The Cardinals now advance to the quarter finals of the WCAC playoffs to face St. John's for the third time this season, looking to build on their strong defensive play, balanced scoring attack, and late-season momentum.
