Mt. Vernon Country Club graciously hosted BI’s Varsity Boys and Girls matches, and now it was the Varsity 2's
opportunity. The V2 coed team consists of seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshman boys and
girls.
Colin McHugh ’26 and Jake Pisano ’27 led off the V2 match. Both were coming off playing the day
before but were fired up to take on a new opponent. Bishop O'Connell came out firing and took down Colin after a great effort. Jake faced a buzz saw of an opponent but quickly turned it on to bring the match
within one. Unfortunately, he couldn’t close it out. O'Connell 3–0
Next up were Ryan Fannon ’27 and Murphy McDaniel ’28, playing in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots.
Ryan showed no nerves, bashing his driver 290 yards down the fairway on the first hole. The match
moved quickly; Ryan was down but not out and fought back to within one before running out of
holes. Murphy’s opponent went on to shoot the second lowest score of the match. It was very hard to
compete with, but Murphy stayed within one stroke on most holes—a valuable effort. O'Connell 6–0
Andrew Dick ’29 and Arthur Stirewalt ’29 anchored the lineup and provided BI’s last chance at a
point. In Andrew’s first official match, he won two holes but eventually lost by one. Another first timer,
Arthur started hot with back-to-back pars to take a commanding 2up lead, then won the next hole to
go 3 up. Arthur went on to lose only two holes, securing BI’s lone point—a great first match
