WCAC Championship

Just ahead of the snow and ice storm that swept through the area, the WCAC Swim & Dive Championship underwent a last-minute schedule change, shifting from a Sunday evening meet to a 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning start in an effort to get the Championship meet in before the inclement weather. The Cardinals quickly pivoted, making the early-morning trip to Maryland and delivering a strong performance despite the abrupt change.
The Bishop Ireton girls team finished 4th overall, just one point behind Paul VI, in a tightly contested field. Avery VanLandingham ’28, Marcella Forrer ’26, Sophie Bliss ’27, and Lainey Hooff ’28 each earned WCAC Honorable Mention recognition. Leading the way in scoring for the Cardinals were Avery VanLandingham, Leah Eubanks ’29, Marcella Forrer, Lainey Hooff, and Caroline Smullen ’26.

On the boys side, Bishop Ireton placed 7th overall, highlighted by five team personal best performances. The Cardinals’ top point scorers were Jack Fuqua ’26, Jack Lentini ’27, Andrew Dick ’26, Derek Amberg ’26, and Connor Corley ’27.
