v. Bishop McNamara

The Bishop Ireton Cardinals picked up an important regional and league win over the Bishop McNamara Mustangs, defeating the Mustangs 79–63 in Saturday’s matchup.
Entering the game looking to rebound from recent losses, Ireton set the tone early and never relinquished control. Coming off a tough loss to DeMatha earlier in the week, the Cardinals responded with a balanced offensive effort and strong defensive stops in key stretches. McNamara, fresh off a narrow loss to Archbishop Carroll the night before, competed hard but struggled to keep pace with Ireton’s scoring runs. A string of second-quarter baskets allowed the Cardinals to extend a lead they carried into the second half, while efficient scoring contributions from multiple players kept consistent pressure on the Mustangs’ defense.

Despite battling inside and attempting to counter Ireton’s attack, McNamara had difficulty converting key shots, particularly late in the shot clock. The victory improved Ireton’s record to around 12–7 at the time, while McNamara fell to 8–14.
