v. D.C. International School

The Bishop Ireton Boys JV Soccer team delivered a confident and composed performance in their matchup against DC International School, securing a 2–1 victory through strong attacking play and disciplined defending.
From the opening whistle, the Cardinals came out with purpose and intensity. The team’s early approach relied on quick transitions and intelligent counterattacks, moving the ball fluidly from back to front. Their use of long balls was especially effective, repeatedly breaking through DCI’s defensive line and creating dangerous scoring opportunities.

This approach paid off midway through the first half when striker Daniel Debrow made the most of two well-timed passes in behind the defense. Demonstrating composure and pace, Debrow found the back of the net twice—his goals coming around the 25th and 30th minutes—to give Bishop Ireton a 2–0 lead. Midfielder Deven Sinha played a crucial role in orchestrating the attack, assisting one of Debrow’s goals and serving as the creative spark in the final third.

At halftime, the coaching staff encouraged the team to continue their composed play, maintain possession, and protect their clean sheet. The Cardinals responded well, controlling the rhythm of the match for much of the second half. Their defensive organization, anchored by a disciplined back line, prevented DCI from finding any real openings.

As daylight began to fade late in the match, DC International managed to pull one goal back, capitalizing on a brief lapse in concentration. However, the goal proved only a consolation, as Bishop Ireton held firm to close out a well-earned win.
