Admissions

Transfer & International Applicants

Transfer Applicants

Students seeking to transfer into the 10th or 11th grade must follow the same application process as 9th-grade applicants, with the exception of the HSPT (High School Placement Test), which is not required for transfer students. In addition, full, official high school transcripts, with credits clearly noted, must be submitted. Mid-year transfer requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Please note the following transfer policies:
  • Bishop Ireton does not accept students who have been reclassified or who have repeated a grade in high school.
  • It is our policy not to accept local senior (12th-grade) transfers. However, exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Bishop Ireton competes in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC), which enforces a strict transfer policy for student-athletes. To read the details of that policy, please click here. If you have additional questions, please contact our Athletic Director to discuss your specific situation should you be interested in transferring to Bishop Ireton as a 10th, 11th or 12th grader.

International Applicants

We welcome students from around the world to become part of our vibrant, faith-filled community at Bishop Ireton High School.
All students must be proficient in English. We require a minimum TOEFL score of 80, as ESL (English as a Second Language) courses are not offered.

International students must hold an F-1 Visa or another valid visa status, as outlined on the Non-Immigrant: Who Can Study chart, in order to enroll in and attend school in the United States.

The application process for international students is the same as for domestic students, with the following additional requirements:
  • An in-person or virtual interview
  • A one-time, non-refundable International Student Fee of $500, due upon enrollment

Please note that Bishop Ireton does not provide housing for international students. Agents or relatives must submit proof of a safe and supportive living arrangement before the I-20 visa application can be processed.

Along with the admissions requirements at Bishop Ireton, please refer to the Diocese of Arlington International Student information page for additional details on diocesan requirements and resources.

International Student Tuition Details

Please refer to the Tuition page for full details. International students pay the same tuition rate as local students but are required to pay all tuition and fees in full at the time of enrollment. Additionally, there is a one-time, non-refundable International Student Fee of $500, due upon enrollment.

Once a student has been accepted and confirms their intent to enroll, the I-20 is completed. The I-901 Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) Fee of $350 is paid by the student after the I-20 is completed.
