  • Executive Assistant to the Head of School

    Bishop Ireton High School, a co-educational high school serving over 800 students in Alexandria, seeks an Executive Assistant to the Head of School.
    Executive Assistant to the Head of School will primarily provide high-level support to the Head of School and the Senior Director of Institutional Advancement. He or she will also serve as the central liaison among the Head of School’s Office and all senior leadership. This position will also provide support to the Board of Governors. This is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Senior Director of Institutional Advancement.

    Responsibilities
    • Manage the Head of School’s calendar including coordination of internal meetings, external donor visits, and external relations events
    • Work with the Senior Director to expand relationships with internal stakeholders through monthly lunches and coffee outreach with specific groups
    • Manage the recordkeeping and reporting requirements for the Financial Aid process
    • Work with the finance office to manage the contract process for all School areas
    • Coordinate travel for the Head of School and Senior Director
    • Provide administrative support for the Board of Governors
    • Schedule, attend and provide minutes for the School’s Directors meetings
    • Prepare materials, remarks and letters at the direction of the Senior Director
    • Support the External Relations team under the guidance of the Senior Director
    • Other administrative duties as assigned

    Education and Experience
    • 3 to 5 years of experience in an educational or nonprofit setting
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Familiarity with donor and prospect management software, particularly Raiser’s Edge
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word

    Start Date: On or about July 1, 2017
    Salary: Commensurate with experience

  • Senior Director of Institutional Advancement

    Bishop Ireton High School, a co-educational high school serving over 800 students in Alexandria, seeks a highly experienced Senior Director of Institutional Advancement. 
     
    The Senior Director of Institutional Advancement oversee Development, Communications and Admissions for Bishop Ireton High School and has direct oversight for growing revenue generating activity.  He or she will manage the Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Director of Admissions, Director of Communications and Advancement Officer.  This is a full time, 12-month position reporting directly to the Head of School.
     
    Responsibilities
    • Work collaboratively with the Head of School and Executive Assistant to maximize School leadership’s time and attention on external relations activities
    • Develop and maintain an annual plan and timetable to include:
    •   Maintenance of an outreach calendar for all of external relations  
      •  Fundraising
      •  Major Gift and Annual Giving activity growth
      • Expansion of the Head of School Circle through strategic outreach
      • Establishment of constituency-based segmentation design
      • Direct mail development, writing and execution
      • Alumni Relations
      • Reunion planning, execution and fundraising
      • Alumni Relations communications and engagement activities
      • Admissions growth with annual markers
      • Report regularly to the Board of Governors on progress in fundraising and enrollment
      • Identify, train, and maintain relationships with internal and external volunteers to assist in external relations programming as needed
      • Work collaboratively with Bishop Ireton faculty and staff to grow a culture of philanthropy
      • Regularly attend internal and external fundraising, enrollment and alumni relations events
      • Directly oversee and report on the overall departmental budget
      • Oversee and mentor the Director of Communications, Director of Admissions, Advancement Officer, and Database Manager
      • Conduct a minimum number of personal visits annually
     
    The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

    • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
    • Intimate knowledge of the philanthropic process
    • Highly organized and strategic thinking

    • Leadership presence
    • A willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
     
    Education and Experience
    • 5 to 7 years of development experience in an educational setting
    • 1 to 2 years of direct management experience
    • Bachelor’s degree required, Masters degree preferred
    • Independent school fundraising experience
    • Familiarity with donor and prospect management software, particularly Raisers Edge
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
    • Proficient in web research
