Season Starts with a Snowy Win

Playing in conditions more conducive to Olympic bobsledding than tennis, the Bishop Ireton's boys tennis team opened their 2026 campaign with a 9-0 win over WCAC foe St. Mary's Ryken in Leonardtown.
The 37-degree weather and snowfall did not faze the Cardinals, as they raced out to 6-0 lead after the singles matches to clinch the team match. Ben Phelps, Paul Khalil, Dmitry Schroeder, and Pierce Green all took their singles matches. Tyler Anglin and Billy McKnight won their first singles matches as Varsity players. The same six players teamed up to sweep the three doubles matches.

The young Cards, 1-0 (1-0 WCAC ), open their home schedule on Thursday, March 5 with a VISAA match against Flint Hill. First serve is at 3:30.
