National Catholic Swimming and Diving Championships

Bishop Ireton Swim & Dive competed at the National Catholic Swimming & Diving Championships over the MLK weekend at Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland. The Cardinals were represented by 30 swimmers and one diver who qualified for the highly competitive national meet. The team posted several strong swims and personal bests during Saturday preliminaries, setting the stage for a productive finals session on Sunday.
A standout moment from the weekend came from Avery VanLandingham ’28, who tied the Bishop Ireton school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.76, matching a mark set in 2017.

  • Boys 200 Medley Relay (Jack Fuqua ’26, Connor Corley ’27, Peter Johnson ’26, Jack Lentini ’27) – 15th
  • Lainey Hooff ’28 – 200 Freestyle (15th), 100 Freestyle (9th)
  • Leah Eubanks ’29 – 200 Freestyle (14th), 500 Freestyle (7th)
  • Avery VanLandingham ’28 – 100 Backstroke (7th, school record tie – 58.76, originally set in 2017)
  • Girls 200 Freestyle Relay (Leah Eubanks ’29, Sophie Bliss ’27, Clover Kennelly ’27, Caroline Smullen ’26) – 14th
  • Girls 400 Freestyle Relay (Avery VanLandingham ’28, Leah Eubanks ’29, Lainey Hooff ’28, Marcella Forrer ’26) – 9th
