Season Opener at the Alexandria City Invitational

Bishop Ireton Swim & Dive opened their season with a strong showing at the Alexandria City Invitational against ACHS, SSSAS, and EHS. The Cardinal girls team finished in 1st place and the boys team were runners-up.
Several swimmers and divers stood out as top point-getters and delivered performances that set a great tone for the season. Among those earning key points:

The meet started off on Tuesday with the diving portion, where both Andrew Dick ’29 and Maeve McGuire ’27 earned 1st place in the boys and girls events.

On the swimming side, top point getters for the girls team included Avery VanLandingham ’28, Leah Eubanks ’29, Marcella Forrer ’26, Caroline Smullen ’26, and Sophie Bliss ’27. They also contributed key points in their respective relay teams. For the boys, standouts included Jack Lentini ’27, Charlie Morse ’28, Peter Johnson ’26, Jack Fuqua ’26, and Reid Nagtzaam ’28 each contributing consistently for points. 

Congratulations to all of our athletes who competed! The Cardinals look forward to building on this momentum at the tri-meet against Bishop O’Connell and St. Mary’s Ryken this Friday at The St. James.
