v. Potomac School

The Bishop Ireton Cardinals Varsity Boys Soccer team faced a tough road test against the Potomac School, the number one team in their conference. Despite entering the match with a severely depleted roster, the Cardinals battled admirably and showed strong resolve.
By halftime, Bishop Ireton managed to keep the score at 2-0, defending with organization and intensity while trying to create opportunities on the counterattack. However, with only five players available on the bench and without key contributors such as senior captains Ian Mohr and Travis Mulder, along with junior Gavin Mohr, fatigue began to take its toll. In the second half, Potomac’s depth and sharpness proved too much to contain, resulting in three more goals before full time.

Despite the final scoreline, several standout performances highlighted Bishop Ireton’s determination. Junior Joshi Cabrera impressed on the right wing, using his left foot to cut inside and spark attacking moments. Junior Mason Bauer showed composure and strength up top, holding the ball well under pressure and helping orchestrate counterattacks. Sophomore Max Schneeberger was dynamic on the left, driving at defenders and finding creative ways to push the ball into dangerous areas.

While the Cardinals couldn’t field a full-strength lineup against the reigning champions, the match provided valuable experience for younger players and those recently called up from JV. It served as both a test of resilience and a preparation opportunity ahead of the upcoming playoff clash against St. Mary’s Ryken.
