In a rain-soaked battle at home, the Bishop Ireton Cardinals fought to an intense 1-1 draw against PVI in what was arguably their best performance of the season so far.
The heavy rain poured from kickoff to the final whistle, but it only seemed to fuel the Cardinals’ energy and determination. Sophomore Gavin Mohr opened his account for the season with a well-taken finish, marking his first goal of the campaign. His effort epitomized the fight and spirit the team displayed throughout the match.
The Cardinals created numerous chances, consistently threatening in the attacking third. Though some shots lacked precision, the aggressive intent and chemistry shown by the group were clear signs of progress. Defensively, the team looked far more secure, conceding just once despite the relentless conditions and PVI’s attacking pushes.
Several standout performances highlighted the night:
Gavin Mohr (So.) – Scored the Cardinals’ goal with determination and composure.
Travis Mulder (Sr., Captain) – A rock at center back, leading by example with crucial tackles and organization.
Nico Salamanca (Jr.) – Brought stability and grit in defense, helping shut down key PVI chances.
Daniel Lizarraga (So.) – Played a vital role at the back, combining composure and toughness in difficult conditions.
Max Schneeberger (So.) – Another influential presence, showing consistency and quality in key moments.
It was a hard-fought draw in brutal weather, but the Cardinals walked away with pride, momentum, and the belief that this squad is coming together at the right time.
