Bishop Ireton Boys Varsity Soccer opened the season with a tough test against St. John Paul the Great, conceding three early goals after a sluggish start and difficulty adjusting during rotations.
The Cardinals rallied in the second half, scoring twice and nearly equalizing, with two penalty claims waved away. Sophomore Max Schneeberger was a standout in attack, scoring and driving play forward, while captain Aaron Condie made several key 1v1 saves to keep Ireton in the match.
Another bright spot was sophomore David Ferrer, making his Varsity debut at left back after moving up from JV last year. Ferrer showed outstanding composure, ball control, defensive work rate, and comfort at the varsity level, immediately proving he belongs.
Despite the 3–2 defeat, the squad took pride in their resilience, physical edge, and second-half dominance, setting a strong foundation to build on for the season ahead.
