Head of the Occoquan

The Occoquan Challenge was BI Rowing's first time racing with an “out and back” reversal course, and our Cardinal rowers were all up to the challenge!
BI boated great teams of rowers. Most first season rowers performed well for being on the water just four weeks into the season, and veteran rowers earned medals. A couple of races of note:
  • Without knowing it, BI's youngest rowers were included in a race with college Novice rowers - but they held their own in a great race experience.
  • Two men’s Doubles were unopposed, but looking at their times showed just how fast both boats rowed, coming in 1st and 2nd.
  • The Women’s Lower Jr 4+ earned a Bronze medal and beat Loudoun Rowing Association
  • The Women’s Jr. Quad also earned a Bronze medal.
  • The Men’s Quad earned a Gold medal and one of the fastest times of the day!
  • A special shout out to our Freshman/Novice Women’s 8 who placed second out of three boats - and notably the top boat average age was two years older than our girls.
