Varsity Head Golf Coach
Bishop Ireton High School is seeking a qualified, passionate, and experienced Head Golf Coach to lead its boys and girls golf program for the Spring 2026 season. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong background in coaching golf, a commitment to student-athlete development, and the ability to build a positive team culture rooted in sportsmanship, discipline, and respect.
Bishop Ireton plays in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) and participates in both conference and non-conference schedules. The Varsity Head Coach directs and coordinates all aspects of the golf program in accordance with the school’s mission and values. The goal of the coach should be to lead this competitive program at the highest level of play by teaching and developing the players with skill and sportsmanship. Team building is essential.
The Varsity Head Coach is responsible for managing the coaching staff and team budget. The ability to manage the program during pre-season is required. This position receives a stipend and reports to the Athletic Director. Spring Season runs from mid-February through mid-May.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead all aspects of the golf program, including practices, match preparation, and tournament participation
- Teach fundamentals of the game with attention to skill development, strategy, and course management
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes personal growth and teamwork
- Monitor academic progress and promote the values of responsibility, integrity, and leadership
- Collaborate with the Athletic Department to coordinate schedules, transportation, and eligibility requirements
- Serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes on and off the course
- Locate a practice and match course
- Understand and adhere to all WCAC and VISAA rules and regulations
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience in golf (high school, collegiate, or club level preferred)
- Strong knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, and competitive play
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to positively motivate student-athletes and uphold the mission of Bishop Ireton High School
- Must meet all Diocese of Arlington coaching compliance requirements
