Bishop Ireton Names New Head Coach for Wrestling

Coach Joseph Michael Moon has been named the new Head Coach for Bishop Ireton Wrestling. Born in Alamance County, North Carolina, Coach Moon has over two decades of combined wrestling experience. He learned from and trained with Olympic and World champion wrestlers and coaches. A two-time North Carolina High School State Champion and a two time high school All-American, Coach Moon attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he graduated with a double major in Exercise Sport Science and Psychology. A four year letter, winner he boasted a top 12 national ranking in his senior NCAA campaign. Previously, Coach Moon was the head coach for the Tennessee Wrestling Academy.

Coach Moon's philosophy is:

"Sport is an excellent hands-on training tool for the trials of life. Forcing oneself to be emotionally and physically prepared for a difficult situation can be directly instilled through sport. There are no guarantees in life or in wrestling, being able to adapt to adversity is an important learned skill. Even with hours of preparation and effort one may fall short of goals initially. The lessons sport teaches, none better than wrestling, is that consistent attrition will eventually lead to a desired outcome. I want to build my students into happy, hard-working, successful people."

Welcome to the Cardinal family, Coach Moon!
