Two Bishop Ireton Cardinals Varsity Pitchers Rally Together To Shutout Saint John Paul The Great Catholic

The Bishop Ireton Cardinals varsity team defeated Saint John Paul the Great Catholic 3-0 in a 7 inning exhibition game on Friday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Gavin Brunsman struck out Amuso to finish off the game. The pitching was strong on both sides. Bishop Ireton Cardinals' pitchers struck out nine, while Precit sat down two. A single by Caiafa in the second inning was the one positive for Saint John Paul the Great Catholic.

Mike Murphy got the win for BI. The right hander went six innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and striking out seven. Brunsman threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Brunsman recorded the last three outs to earn the save.

Precit took the loss for Saint John Paul the Great Catholic. The hurler surrendered three runs on four hits over six innings, striking out two.

Jack Schulz, Will Kopp, Nick Ierardi, and Brunsman each managed one hit to lead the Cardinals.

Kopp's Walk-Off Gives Bishop Ireton Cardinals Varsity Victory Over Saint John Paul The Great Catholic

The varsity baseball team defeated Saint John Paul the Great Catholic 3-2 in the second exhibition game of a double header on Friday thanks to a walk-off. The game was tied at two with Bishop Ireton Cardinals Varsity batting in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run for BI. The pitching was strong on both sides. BI pitchers struck out ten, while Caiafa sat down four. John Paul the Great Catholic fired up the offense in the first inning. Pahlmeier grounded out, scoring one run.

John Paul the Great Catholic knotted the game up at two in the top of the fourth inning. An error scored one run for JPG.

Aidan O'Brien pitched Bishop Ireton Cardinals Varsity to victory. The bulldog lasted three and a third innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out five and walking one.

Caiafa took the loss for Saint John Paul the Great Catholic. The pitcher allowed nine hits and three runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out four.

Peter Chiarello started the game for BI. The left hander went three and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out five.

BI launched one home run on the day. Gavin Brunsman had a four bagger in the third inning.

The Cardinals tallied nine hits. Henry Jones, Will Kopp, and Owen Hull each had multiple hits . Hull, Kopp, and Jones each collected two hits to lead the Cardials.
