Economics Club Team Finishes # 1 in Virginia for Fall Stock Market Game

This fall, nine teams from Bishop Ireton's Economic Club participated in the Virginia Stock Market Game. It is hosted by the Virginia Council for Economic Education with 176 teams participating statewide.  Students are given a portfolio of $100,000 to invest and grow as much as possible.  

The Ireton team of Charlie Hornung '21 and Dustin Gardner '21, finished first in the state. They finished with a final portfolio value of $139,705.34, a growth increase of 31% over the S & P 500 stock index. Charlie and Dustin will be honored for their accomplishment in the spring in a special ceremony held in Richmond.  
Overall, the Economics Club had four teams in the top twenty in the state and six of the top ten teams in the region.  Those teams and their portfolio values are below.
