Students Support Our Troops with Care Packages and Handmade Cards

The Cardinals for Freedom Club thanks the Bishop Ireton community for their support of the first annual Operation Shoebox drive.

The weeklong collection brought in 150 care package items that will be shipped to deployed military men and women.

“It was great to lead this project around Veterans Day to focus attention on our military. The care packages are a hands-on opportunity for BI to help boost morale for the troops,” said Carole Beckhorn ’19. “It’s a great way for students to show appreciation for the people who protect our country’s freedom. That’s what the Cardinals for Freedom Club is all about.”

The club also sent 60 handmade cards to active military personnel through the A Million Thanks Program. Cardinals for Freedom has similar events and activities planned for this year.
