  • Academics

    College Prep, Honors and 22 AP courses offered.   Average SAT scores of 1200 and 25 for the ACT. Dual enrollment classes in computer science and political science for college credit through Northern Virginia Community College.  Academic Enrichment and Connections class affords students the chance to receive extra attention.  High School preparatory classes offered during the summer before freshman year. Affiliation with Project Lead the Way, the leading provider of STEM Curriculum to the Nation's Best High Schools.  Six World Languages offered (French, German, Latin, Spanish, Italian and Mandarin Chinese).   • Campus Ministry

    Daily Mass offered at 7:15 a.m. in our school chapel (except  Thursday where it is celebrated after school at 3:15 p.m.). Mass is celebrated as a student body every three weeks in the auditorium. Each year, we host numerous retreat opportunities (Kairos, Camden, etc.), as well as service opportunities and requirements build into students schedule. Students are required to complete at least 15 hours of community service every year. 

  • Campus Traditions

    Some of our annual traditions include Homecoming, Winter Formal and Prom.  Donuts are provided every Friday during Advisory. During the holidays, we Adopt a Family at Christmas, sponsor a Canned Food drive, and more.  Other Cardinal customs include the Powder Puff game, the Spirit Rock (painted by different clubs and groups throughout the year) and Cardinal Crazies Spirit themes for sports games.

  • Clubs

    We offer almost 60 after school clubs for students, including Student Government, National Honor Society, Nationally ranked Model United Nations Club, Coding Club, Annual Hackathon, Gaming Club, Drama Club and many more. Explore our clubs here.

  • College Placement

    Click here for a list of college placement.  We have a 100% college acceptance rate of graduates, as well as students who have been awarded National Merit Scholars (three over the last two years). The Class of 2018 was awarded nearly $16 million in college scholarships.  Our counselors have a vast network of college connections to help lead students and parents through the college application process to help find the best fit for our students. We sponsor numerous college campus visits throughout the school year.

  • Fine Arts

    Bishop Ireton offers a robust fine arts program. Our theatre deparment produces two shows a year (Fall and Spring), and is well-know for winning multiple Cappies awards. Our Wind Ensemble is internationally recognized and travels overseas each year to perform. Our art department is home to brilliant artists and helps our students discover their potential.   • Location

    Located in historic  Alexandria, VA just off of Duke Street, Bishop Ireton provides easy access to public transportation for students. This includes a bus service to and from the Braddock Street Metro Station, as well as a partnership with the City of Alexandria DASH bus service where students ride for free during the school year. Our neighborhood boasts many resturants near school, including Panera, Subway, and Glory Days.

  • School Day

    The school day begins at 7:55am and ends at 3:00pm (with the exception of T days: 2:35pm dismissal).  School starts the week before Labor day and ends mid June. T days can fall any day of the week as each day has a different BIRETON letter associated with it. 

  • Sports

    75% of our students play on one of our athletic teams and most play multiple sports.  We offer 17 different sports for students. Bus transportation is provided to and from any sport where the practice facility is not located on site (i.e., swimming, rowing, etc.)  Explore our sports programs here.
