Quinn, Kalan highlight semifinal commencement athletic awards presentations Tuesday

Seniors Marymargaret Quinn and Graham Kalan were honored with the Father George Godley Award for Excellence in Athletics during the School's virtual semifinal commencement activities Tuesday, May 26th.  The award recognizes athletes that demonstrate excellence in two or more varsity sports, the MVPs, as it were. Team manager, spirit award, Cardinals of the year, and scholar-athletes were also recognized during the first ever online ceremony for graduation events.

The male Cardinal Award was presented to Robert Lorge, heralded as the example of an exemplary teammate and member of the Bishop Ireton athletic community. The senior played four years of baseball for the Cardinals.

Kalleigh Ballagh, a cheerleader, was likewise recognized as the female Cardinal. Kalleigh was a positive energy in practice, at the games, and in the school according to her coach and teammates. Known as someone that made not only herself but her teammates better, the senior will take that energy to St Mary's College in South Bend, Indiana in the fall.

The Father Edward Roszko, OSFS, Spirit Award was presented to crew's Kieran Ferguson. Kieran was not only among the most popular rowers on the crew, he was also a fixture at games throughout the season encouraging our teams and fans.

After four years of managing varsity baseball, senior Hannah Todd earned the coaches' vote as the Cardinals' team manager of the year. Coach Olerta was effusive in his praise for the tireless Todd. "She could do everything you would hope for a manager to do and rarely needed to be asked, she knew what needed to be done!"

Bishop Ireton is proud of its scholar-athletes and recognizes those students that excel in both areas. The School honors a male and female as well as an honorable mention for both. This year's male and female scholar-athletes of the year are Duncan Beauch and Siobhan Chawk. The honorable mention awardees are Will Mueller and Emelia Lenz.
