Cheerleaders Capture Fourth Straight Grand Champion Title at Blue Ridge Classics, Earn Bid to Nationals
The Bishop Ireton cheerleaders competed in the Christian Cheerleaders of America's (CCA) Blue Ridge Classics Competition last weekend, and captured the Grand Champion Trophy for the fourth straight year.
They also placed first in the Small Varsity Division during the competition. They beat out teams from Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina in the contest, which took place at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.
“I am incredibly proud of our team, who have overcome several difficult obstacles this season,” said head coach Angela Hope. “This year, our team t-shirts read, ‘Your talent is a gift from God, what you do with it, is your gift back to God.’ The continued success of this program lies within the team working together as one, recognizing their talents and putting them to work.”
With this win, the cheerleaders earned a spot in the CCA Nationals held in Fayetteville, North Carolina in March. Bishop Ireton also took home two individual titles at the competition: best jump (Kaleigh Ballagh ’20) and best tumbling (Claire De La Garrigue ’21).
