Dr. Sameer Nagda, is a Sports Medicine and shoulder specialist at the
Anderson Clinic. He evaluates and treats problems of the shoulder, elbow, and knee, with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine.He is also an Assistant Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Nagda a member of the prestigious American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. He is the only member of this elite group of approximately 350 shoulder and elbow surgeons worldwide to practice in Northern Virginia.
Dr. Nagda has worked as a team physician at the collegiate level at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and Georgetown University. He also has substantial professional sports medicine experience as a physician with the Washington Nationals, the NBA, and the NHL. He has served as team physician for both the Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse teams at Georgetown University. He is currently the team physician for the Potomac Nationals Minor League Baseball Team and a Consulting Team Physician with the Unites States Soccer Federation. He is a founding member of the Mid-Atlantic Shoulder and Elbow Society. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
Dr. Nagda has won numerous awards for his research. He has received the prestigious Neer Award from the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. This is the highest award given in the field of shoulder surgery. He has also received multiple awards from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Eastern Orthopaedic Society for his research. Dr. Nagda has also served as the Editor–in- Chief of the University of Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Journal. He lectures at the local, national, and international level on a regular basis. In 2009 He was an invited faculty for the First Annual Indo-US Shoulder Course in India. There, he performed several live surgeries and lectured extensively. In addition to his clinical and research practice at Anderson Clinic, Dr. Nagda helps organize and run the shoulder curriculum for the orthopaedic surgery residents at Georgetown.
Dr. Nagda received his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of California at Los Angeles. He completed his medical education at the Chicago Medical School. Dr. Nagda completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. There he was selected as the academic chief resident and given the DeForest Willard Award as the most outstanding senior orthopaedic resident. He then pursued specialized training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the world-renowned Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
Dr. Nagda has been an Attending Surgeon with the Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic for more 8 years. They have clinics located within minutes of Bishop Ireton in Mt. Vernon, Arlington, and Lorton. Dr. Nagda along with the nationally recognized specialty orthopaedic surgeons and physicians assistants at the Anderson Clinic will be working with all of our athletes here at Bishop Ireton. Dr. Nagda lives in Alexandria with his wife and two young sons.
