Tours

We are happy to schedule a tour of our school with a representative from our admissions office. Tours generally take around 30 minutes and are typically available Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 2:30pm. Please email the Admissions Office to request a tour.  

Cardinal for the Day Shadow Program

We understand that the high school selection process can be difficult. An important part of that decision is selecting a school where the student feels like they belong. Our Cardinal for the Day Shadow Program is a wonderful way for your child to get a feel for our campus environment and see our school from a student's perspective.

We begin these visits in October, and they continue until the end of March. Please click below to schedule a visit.

  • Is a permission form required?

    A permission form will be emailed to you once you have scheduled your visit. Click here to schedule a shadow day.
  • What is the process with inclement weather?

    Bishop Ireton High School follows Fairfax County Public Schools for closures, delays, and emergency closings. In the event of a delay, please contact the admissions office to confirm the arrival time. If we are closed, please contact the admissions office to reschedule.
  • Does my child shadow for a full day or half day?

    Your child has the option to shadow for a full day or half day. You can indicate your selection on the registration form. If it is a full day they should be dropped off at 7:45am and picked up at 3:00pm. If they are selecting the half day option, they should be dropped off at 7:45am and picked up at 12:30pm.
  • Can my student request a host?

    Yes, if there is a current student they would like to request as their host, please indicate on the request form, and we will do our best to accommodate the request.  
  • How can I get ahold of my child during the day?

    Should you need to get in contact with your child, please call the admissions office at 703-751-7606. Your child may use any school phone to contact you during the day. Cell phones are not permitted during the school day.
  • Where do I bring my child on the day of their visit, and where do I pick them up?

    Please park in one of the four visitors spots in the lower parking lot. The spots are marked with feather signs that read "Visitor Parking." Proceed to the student entrance (the temporary main entrance during construction) of the building (door #16) and ring the bell for access. All visitors must sign in and out from the front office during their visit.
  • What should my child bring with them?

    Your child will be provided with a notebook and pen. However, they are welcome to bring school work or a book as their host will have a study hall at some point during the day.
  • Is lunch provided?

    Yes, your child will receive lunch in our cafeteria during both a half day or full day visit. Please let us know if your child has any allergies. The cafeteria offers a wide variety of items, but we are not a nut free facility. They are welcome to bring their own lunch if they prefer.
  • What should I do if I need to cancel?

    Please contact the admissions office as soon as possible to reschedule or notify of your cancellation. Please email Veronica Wilkinson at wilkinsonv@bishopireton.org or call 703-751-7606.
  • What should my child wear?

    If your child attends a school that has a uniform, it should be worn during their visit to Bishop Ireton. If not in uniform, appropriate clothing is required (comparable to what one would wear to church). No jeans, athletic wear or leggings are permitted.
