  • Attend our Open House
Attend our Open House in the fall with the whole family.  Come see our facilities and meet faculty, administrators, parents, coaches and students.   This event, which is typically attended by a few hundred families, is usually on a Sunday afternoon in late October or early November.   See the Admissions Schedule for specific date and time.

  • Take a Tour
Take a tour of our school during the school day.  Parents and their students are welcome to schedule a tour with Mr. Pete Hamer, Director of Admissions, who will explain our programs as he walks you around the school building.  Tours are scheduled on most school days between the hours of 8:00 am – 2:30 pm.  Call 703-212-5190 or email hamerp@bishopireton.org to schedule.
  • Shadow at BI
Have your student shadow” one of our students for the day.  Parents can schedule their 8th grade students to spend the day at Bishop Ireton following one of our students to their classes and lunch.  This is a great way to see our school from a student’s perspective – to be a Cardinal for the day!  We are happy to arrange a host with volunteers from our freshmen class, or if your student has a friend or relative here - in any grade – you can request them for a host.  We begin these visits at the end of September and they continue until the end of May.  We schedule “shadow” visits for any normal day here, but can only accommodate a limited number each day, so call early.  All shadow visits must be scheduled in advance with the Admissions Office.   Call 703-751-7606 or email hamerp@bishopireton.org or wilkinsonv@bishopireton.org to schedule.   Below are the procedures for the day of the visit:
  1. On that day your student should arrive by 7:45 am, dressed nicely ... no jeans or t-shirts...and check in with our receptionist.
  2. The entrance door to the school is up the hill on Cambridge Road in the flag pole area.  The main door is all the way to the right.  You are welcome to park in one of the visitor spots in front or if not available you can park on Cambridge Road across from the entrance.
  3. Your student needs to drop off a note from you giving him/her permission to be here and giving us an emergency contact number (click here for a printable note form that you can simply fill out).   He/She leaves the note with the receptionist, who will give your student a visitor pass and ticket for a free lunch.  The host picks your student up in the front office and they go off for the day.
  4. Dismissal is normally at 3:00 pm, but occasionally at 2:35 pm.  In case of inclement weather, we follow Fairfax County's decisions when it comes to weather related school closings or delays.
  • Attend a Game or Performance
Come to a game or performance.  Take advantage of the numerous opportunities to see our school at public events like a football game, band concert or drama performance.  Check our website (the School Calendar or Athletic Schedule) for specific dates and times.

frequently asked questions

List of 3 frequently asked questions.

  • Is visitor parking provided on campus?

Yes, there are three designated visitor parking spots at the front of the school near the flagpole.  There is also street parking available on Cambridge Road which is zoned as free parking with three hours max time.
  • Must tours of the campus be scheduled ahead of time?

We do prefer that tours of the campus are previously scheduled so that we may accomadate you in the best manner.  Many prespective parents and students drop in to take a quick gander at the facilities, but a fully guided tour will allow you to have any questions answered as they arise.
  • When is the next Open House so that we can view the campus?

The next Open House will be on October 23rd, 2016 at 1:00pm in the Auditorium.  Please park in the bottom parking lot near the second circle round so that you will be in close proximity to the Auditorium.
