Welcome to our new teachers & staff:
Assistant Librarian Mrs. Thompson
Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen
Pride and Prejudice will always be my favorite book because it is so much more than a love story. Jane Austen writes characters so well that she allows you to examine them over and over, finding different aspects of their personalities each time.
New to the English Department, Mr. Rainey
A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway
A Farewell to Arms remains my favorite book because it tells a love story amidst the backdrop of World War II, the most significant event of the 20th century.
English Teacher Mrs. Cranford
"He was going to live forever, or die in the attempt." Catch-22 is
a humorous and sometimes poignant look at the absurdity of war. Larger
than life characters, irrational bureaucracy, and a twisting, looping
plot line will leave you questioning the meaning of sanity. A
thought-provoking and darkly entertaining read.
History Teacher Mr. Parmer
A History of the World in 6 Glasses, Tom Standage
My favorite book is A History of the World in 6 Glasses by Tom Standage. The book explores how beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and soda developed and diffused around the world as well as their impact to cultures and contributions to conflicts.
Attendance & Discipline Coordinator
The Red Tent, Anita Diamant
The Red Tent is my favorite book since it is a biblical story told from a uniquely female perspective.
Director of Student Life Mrs. Jordan
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
The reason I choose The Great Gatsby is because each time I read this
book I take something else away-- the love story, the shallowness of the
characters, the complicated intertwined situations, the glam of the
Jazz Age, and my opinion of who Gatsby is can change depending on my
mood. I find that the book is incredibly well written and fun to read,
even the fourth, fifth and sixth time.
Chaplain Fr. Bresnahan
Interior Freedom, Father Jacques Philippe
Interior Freedom by Father Jacques Philippe is a powerful book that in short easy strides, challenges the reader to free the heart and find true happiness in God's amazing plan for you. It's the kind of book you read several times because it changes your life each time you open it up.
