Fannon Field Renovation & Re-opening Events
Installation of the brand new and state-of-the art Revolution® field turf was completed on June 24th. Since then, the Summer Sports Camp programs have enjoyed using it daily and with the return of student-athletes to campus for mini-camps and pre-season workouts, it is seeing continuous use by the football, soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse teams.
Prior kick-off at the first home Varsity Football game on Saturday, September 13th, we will celebrate the inaugural season of the new turf with a dedication and blessing ceremony at 1:45 PM. There will be a ribbon-cutting with various dignitaries of the Bishop Ireton community, and our chaplain, Fr. Bresnahan, will officially bless the field and pray for its safe use, long life, and many fond memories to come.
Kick-off is set for 2:00 PM against St. Alban's.
We are also excited to be able to present the 2014 VISAA and WCAC Girls' Lacrosse Championship Team with their commemorative championship rings during a special half-time ceremony.
All alumni and their families are invited to join us in the courtyard and Atrium from 4:30 - 6:30 PM for a post-game bash with good food, drink, and fellowship. The first 50 RSVPs for the party will each receive a complimentary game ticket. If you can attend, please respond by Wednesday, September 10th.
RAISING THE PROFILE
The Duke Street Beautification Project is well underway and great progress has been made since we broke ground in mid-July.
The old sign has been removed and put into storage pending its installation in its new home at a different location on campus, yet to be determined, and the new sign is in production, to be added to the impressive new stone masonry wall as soon as it is ready. The new rough-hewn wooden Cross serves as a conspicuous and unmistakable reminder of the Catholic identity of our house on the hill. This revitalizes and brings a new, yet classic, style to the face of dear old Alma Mater, and your generous support has been vital to the success of this endeavor.
Contact Director of Alumni Relations, T.J. McBride '90, if you would like to learn more about Homecoming and Reunion weekend, and how to become a Reunion Rep.

Alumnus of the Month
The Androus, B.I. '88
Theo (right) and brother, Ezra '89, enjoying the adoration of the Cardinal faithful after the 50th Anniversary Alumni Football Game
Theo Androus has been involved in Bishop Ireton alumni activities for over two decades. As an alum of the football, wrestling and lacrosse programs, he has always kept close to his Alma Mater's sports, coming back to Cambridge Road for numerous athletic events and to stay connected to the current coaches and the athletic program as a whole. In his capacity as a youth sports coach in Alexandria, he has encouraged many young athletes to attend Ireton and a few have gone on to enjoy great success as Cardinals.
He is the founder of the Sean Michael O'Malley Memorial Scholarship, establishing a legacy for his close friend and former teammate, and was a key member of the planning committee for the 50th Anniversary Alumni Football Game, which raised over $25,000 for the O'Malley Scholarship fund.
He has served as a Class Agent for his Class of 1988 and was co-chair of their 25-Year Reunion just last year, in October 2013.
Theo was the first of the three Androus boys to come through B.I., followed closely by his brother Ezra, '89, a luxury yacht broker and owner of Annapolis Yacht Company in Annapolis, MD, and then Zachary, '92, a college professor at a study abroad program in Florence, Italy.
He supports various local charities and has served for over ten years as a member of the Advisory Board of the Alexandria Salvation Army. His philanthropic work has helped to provide thousands of families with food and clothing throughout the Washington, DC area. He credits his time at Ireton and the lessons learned from teachers like Br Rick Wilson, Mr. Baskette, Coach McGrath, and many others as giving him the foundation for a life of service and contribution to his community.
Bishop Ireton is proud and fortunate to call him a Son of Cambridge Road.
