COURSE SYLLABUS

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The Advanced Placement American History course is an intensive study for the student who possesses a great love and interest in the history of the United States. The course will be presented in a chronological order to satisy the "concrete sequential" student with occasional activities that will appeal to the "abstract random" learner. This course will concentrate on the political, economic, religious, social, and cultural development of the United States with additional emphasis on geographical influences and intellectual history. The course content will cover the material presented in the College Board AP guidelines, and will serve to help prepare the student for the mandatory AP American History examination in May.

PRE-REQUISITE:

 Grades

A grade of “B” or better in AP European Studies

A grades of “B+” or better in Honors European History

A grade of “A” in CP European History

All courses: no D's or F's in 9th or 10th grade

 

*If accepted into the course, the student will have to complete the Summer Work and turn in it on the date due prior to the next school year.

*Once in the course, the student will be required to earn a B or better at the end of the 1st quarter in order to remain in the course, or be dropped to the C.P. level course
