Dr. Hernandez first came to Bishop Ireton in December 1985. She taught for
five years and then went to Florida
for four years where she also taught and was youth minister of a parish. She
returned to Bishop Ireton in 1990.
Dr. Hernandez is a native of Havana,
Cuba. Her
family moved to the U.S.
in her childhood. She attended J. E. B. Stuart High School
in Falls Church, VA. She did her undergraduate work at Georgetown University
in Washington, DC and earned a theology degree. While at Georgetown, she was a
Rhodes Scholar nominee and became a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She holds a
Masters Degree in Theology from the Desales School of
Theology in Washington, DC and a Doctorate in Ministry from The Virginia
Episcopal Seminary in Alexandria, VA.
