Ensemble Musicians into the
MENC Tri-M Music Honor Society Bishop
Ireton High School announces the induction of 40 members of the Bishop Ireton
Symphonic Wind Ensemble into Chapter #5507 of the Tri-M Music Honor Society
of the National Association for Music Education, MENC. The ceremony will be held on October 8,
2008 in the Bishop Ireton Chapel at 7:00 p.m.
Tri-M currently has more than 38,000 members in more than 4,500 chartered
chapters worldwide. Students are
selected on the basis of scholarship, character, leadership, and
service. MENC is the world’s largest
arts education organization. There
will be a pre-ceremony reception in the atrium starting at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited and welcome to
attend. Wind Ensemble students must be
in the Chapel
at 6:00 p.m. with instruments,
in tuxedos and gowns. This is for the yearbook and France tour
picture. Friday, October 10 -8:00 am Second Magaziine Sale Order Deadline, Music Department members
turn in orders in the Band Room. Tuesdays: Wind Ensemble
sectionals after school for oboe, flute,
trumpet, bassoon, and percussion. Wednesdays: Wind Ensemble
sectionals after school for clarinet, saxophone,
trombone/euphonium, tuba/string bass. LOOKING AHEAD Fall Concert
featuring the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Choir, Friday, October 24 6:00 p.m. students
report for warm-up 6:30 p.m.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: SmartMusic Tips of the Week: 1) click on the
tuner 2) play long (very
long) tones 3) after horn is
warm, tune 4) practice
assignment slowly 5) limit yourself to just 2 or 3 passes at the assignment
each practice session (in professional recording sessions, the best take is often
the first take.... so, try to limit yourself to just 2 or 3 recordings each
session). 6) submit the assignment if you know that you have played

goes to all current families, former staff, and over 6,000 alumni. The deadline to submit information is Wednesday,
October 8". Concert Band and Wind Ensemble Students, Congratulations to
those of you who signed up for SmartMusic and
submitted your assignments. For those
who have not signed up yet, please go to smartmusic.com and sign up right
away. Once SmartMusic
has your email address and password, you can do your assignments on any
computer that has SmartMusic. For example, the computer in the band room,
