Week of 10 November ‘08

IMPORTANT: I will be unavailable on Monday, 24 November, for Parent Teacher Conferences.  If any of your parents would like to meet with me, please schedule a meeting for Friday, 21 November.  If this should prove difficult for your parent to schedule, please ask them to contact me via e-mail.  I am sure we can work out a mutually acceptable day and time.

This week we will continue our study of “Forces and Motion in Two Dimensions,” Chapter 7: Equilibrium and the Equilibrant, Motion Along an Inclined Plane, Projectile Motion and Frame of Reference (much of which we have covered in previous class sessions).

New work will take us into Section 7.3 Circular Motion, Centripetal Motion and Torque.

On Thursday, 13 November, a “B” day, weather permitting, we will hold the annual “Egg-Drop” competition.  Materials for this event will be made available early in the week.  Please see the attachment (The Egg Drop) for details on the rules that will apply.

About 4 weeks from now you will be required to turn in a report on the progress you are making on the “Major Report.”  Please do NOT wait until the last minute to get started.  This progress paper will contribute to your final grade for the 2nd Quarter, and consequently, your 1st Semester grade.

As noted in my last update, many, if not most, of you still have not established a network of “reliable” study-buddies.  And as you have heard me say many times, “do not rely on your study- buddy calling you if you had to miss a class – YOU call him/her.”

Homework will be assigned on a daily basis according to progress.

As always, “Pop Quizzes” at any time.
