Choose from one of the following topics to give a group
presentation.
- A
portion of this presentation should preferably be a power point
presentation, though you may do something different. There needs to be a visual component to
this presentation.
- Summarize
the stories and give interpretations/explanations where needed.
- Remember,
make it interesting and fun, but also get the information across as
well.
- Use direct scriptural citations in your presentation / cite the actual
scriptural texts.
- The
presentation should be 7-10 minutes long.
- Please
(1) email the presentation to gavinw@bishopireton.org
the evening before your presentation
and (2) bring a back up copy on a flash drive or disk! J
Note, everyone in your group needs to be involved in the
presentation of the material.
- The
birth of Christ -- focus on the Gospels of Luke, Matthew and how the
Gospel of John presents the ‘beginning’, the Word of God.
- The
beginning of his ministry -- How does his ministry begin? The temptation
in the desert (Matthew 4), choosing the 12 apostles, opening statements in
the Gospel of Luke (Luke 4: 16-30), the stories of John the Baptist (John
3, Luke 3: 1-13), etc.
- Key
teachings and stories --
Matthew Chapters 5-7 (Sermon on the Mount – not the whole thing), John 6:
22-71 (The Bread of Life Discourse), John 13 (washing of the Apostles feet
and the teachings surrounding this story). The transfiguration of Jesus in Luke
9:28-36.
- Amazing
Miracles – (1) The Gerasene
Demoniac -- Mark 5:1-20;
(2) Jarius’ Daughter -- Luke 8:40-56; (3) Healing
of the 10 lepers -- Luke 17:11-19; (4) the cursing of the fig tree
-- Matthew 21: 18-22; (5) healing of the deaf mute -- Mark 7: 31-37.
- Key
parables -- Include the Vine
and the Branches (John 15: 1-17), Lost Sheep (Luke 15: 1-7), Judgment of the Nations (Matt. 25:
31-46), the Gold Talents (Luke 19: 11-ff), the Lost Coin (Luke 15: 8-10)
and The Parable of the Last Seat (Luke 14: 7-11)
- Key
Parables #2 -- The Watchful Servants (Luke 12: 35-48), The Son’s
request (Luke 11:5-13),
The Narrow Gate (Luke 13: 22-30), Mustard Seed (Luke 13: 18-19), The Rich
Man and Lazarus (Luke 16: 19-31) and The Pharisee and the Publican (Luke
18: 9-14).
- Passion
and death -- Focus on the Gospel accounts in John and Mark (including,
if you want, the Last Supper).
- Resurrection
and Appearance Stories-- Focus on the Resurrection and
post-resurrection appearance stories in the Gospels of John (Gospel of
John, chapters 20-21) and Mark (chapter 16).
- Resurrection
and Appearance Stories #2 -- Focus on the resurrection and
post-resurrection appearance stories in the Gospel accounts of Luke (chapter
24) and Matthew (chapter 28).
- The
Early Church – Focus on
Acts of the Apostles, Chapters 1-9.
You will be graded (100 points)
on this exercise -- everyone in your group must participate. See Group Presentation Rubric on how this
