The Life of St. Francis de Sales

GENTLENESS AND HUMILITY

Given the great respect in which each person is held, which is based upon their creation in the divine image and their call to holiness, every individual is approached with gentleness and served in humility. Gentleness here means we deal with people with a true, unfeigned respect, aware of their dignity and in awe of their call. Consequently, persuasion, never force, is our way. Humility always means truth for the Salesian family. We are aware of the deep, even divine, truth of the human person as created and called. Our vocation is to nurture that immense, God-given potential and to try to invite its freedom to respond to the divine invitation which is both its vocation and its fulfillment."
